Just less than 24 hours away from 2019, I'd like to take the time to sit and reflect on the year that's literally just flown by. Like every other year, I started it with having solid resolutions and promising myself to stick to them but did it really happen? Nope! Haha - I think I just got caught up with work and living my best life and probably making excuses to not do them along the way as well.
2018 for me was a year of self realisation, freedom and knowing what I need to do and how to get there in order to achieve my goals. Like everyone else, it was a year of highs and lows but I can safely say - I had a lot more highs which I'm so grateful for. Some of the best highlights this year was traveling to Bali and Japan, camping for the first time with my good friends, going to the snow and spending countless weekends with my mains. This year couldn't have been what it was without my family and friends and there are no words or actions in the world to truly show how grateful I am to have them, their love and constant support.
Along with all the highs, I did go through some little rough patches as well. Although I had so much fun this year and so much to look back on, a feeling that was present, especially coming into the holiday season was: loneliness. Having ample time to myself, I thought a lot about why I feel this way when I'm surrounded by a sea of people but then I realised that I didn't feel lonely because there was no one around me - it was more that I didn't have someone to share something I really love or my interests with. It was hard to express my feelings to the people around me because in my mind, I didn't think they understood so I kept those thoughts to myself most of the time.
In saying that, as mentioned above, I think this year to myself was a year of personal growth and knowing what I want to do and also what I deserve. As much as I loved 2018, I'm so excited to see what 2019 brings and what challenges I'm in for. I don't think I've felt this motivated and determined to make a change like .. ever! I have a few goals to kick next year and I plan on meeting and exceeding ALL of them! Here are some of my "resolutions" for 2019 -
- Buy a house by the end of next year.
- Business venture - I might blog more about it in the new year if it takes off!
- Eating healthier, gymming harder and getting to a weight (also maintaining it) that I'm happy with! I mean, I'm pretty happy with my body now but the benefits of eating healthier is just to feel better on the inside - looks are just a bonus haha.
I hope you guys enjoyed reading this post, I think I got a little more personal than I anticipated but as I was writing it up, all my thoughts just poured onto the keyboard and onto the screen. Let me know what your New Years resolutions are for 2019 - I'd love to know! Just remember, there is no need to wait for a specific day to make a change in your life, if you know you want to do it - all you gotta do is start. This is something that I have to focus on as well, I procrastinate A LOT and leave things to the following day, week or month (like starting a diet, lmao.)
There is no better day to start something, to show your appreciation to someone or to create a goal than today. Wishing you all a lit but safe New Years and that 2019 is everything you've ever wished for and more. Remember to work hard, play harder but most of all - just be yourself and have fun!
A snapshot of some of the people who made this year what it was!
Til next time loves,
Neens
